Devonport's popular annual running event has a new lease on life with a name change, fresh course, increased prize money and another major sponsor.
The new Bluff 2 Boat Ramp inclusive run and walk event, formerly known as Run Devonport, is a fresh start for race directors Brian Lyons and Amie Bramich from Everyday Lions Events.
Since taking on the annual running event last year, the dynamic duo was impressed with the success of this year's event and felt it was time for a refresh.
And they can't wait to test it out on Sunday, 19 March.
"Everyday Lions Events felt that it was time for a fresh start with a name change and new course," Brian said.
"Bluff 2 Boat Ramp aligns with the new course, which starts at the Bluff Precinct and runs to the Boat Ramp at Horse Head Creek and return.
"The main feedback from our community was that people wanted a new course and were ready for a fresh change, they were tired of the several out and back courses that both the previous 5 km and 10 km events had."
Proud of the local community support of the inclusive running event, Amie said participants can chose the 10km, 5km or 1.5km distances next year.
"It's a fast-out-and-back course that takes in some of the LIVING CITY milestones, including the new waterfront park, along Formby and Devonport roads, before turning at Horse Head Creek and returning to the Bluff," she said.
"This is a running and walking event is for the whole family and after the success of last year's event, we have the exciting goal of seeing 1500 runners participate.
"People really loved our medals, and we feel this is our 'hallmark' with events and it's something we are proud to continue to provide to every participant.
"We couldn't do any of this without the support of our valued sponsors and it's really exciting to have Liv Eat and the Devonport City Council on board this year as our major sponsors."
Devonport Mayor Annette Rockliff congratulated Everyday Lions for bringing something fresh to one of the city's most popular sporting events.
"The former Run Devonport has always been popular on the sporting calendar, and Council is pleased to continue to support the event. We look forward to seeing the newly named Bluff 2 Boat Ramp continue to grow in participation numbers each year," Cr Rockliff said.
"Well done to Everyday Lions for having the vision to not stick with the status quo and breathe new life into this community event.
"It's all about participation and getting people involved who will reap the benefits of being part of something that keeps them physically active and engaged in the community."
