The Crisafulli Government is delivering for North Queensland with investment in early intervention programs to reduce youth offending, priority local infrastructure and health in the 2025-26 Budget.
North Queensland will also benefit from the Crisafulli Government's $100 Back to School Boost, the $200 Play On! Sports Vouchers program, more frontline health workers more police on the beat and new social and community housing.
The Budget delivers more support for crime prevention with the establishment of a Crime Prevention School in Townsville to re-engage youth who have disengaged from mainstream education and at risk of falling into crime, as well as a Regional Reset program for the North.
The Crisafulli Government will deliver $147.9 million in operational equipment upgrades for frontline officers, including $47.7 million over two years to purchase more than 6,500 state-of-the-art Taser 10s for police across Queensland.
The Budget also includes $347.7 million to roll-out the Making Queensland Safer Laws across police, courts, legal services and the custodial system.
North Queensland will benefit from the record $2.4 billion Government funding commitment in the Budget to deliver the CopperString project.
Pending approvals, construction is set to start on the $225 million Hughenden Hub in 2025-26, which will connect future renewable energy at Flinders to the National Electricity Market.
As part of the Hospital Rescue Plan, Townsville University Hospital will be expanded with at least 165 new overnight beds and supported by additional funding for more frontline health workers to grow the workforce to 6,378 in Townsville Hospital and Health Service.
Victims of domestic and family violence will receive additional support through the delivery of a new Townsville-based hub, which will double the capacity of the Womensline and Mensline helplines.
Premier David Crisafulli said the Budget delivered the foundation for a fresh start for North Queensland, just as promised.
"Today's Budget delivers the fresh start Queensland needs and Queenslanders voted for, to address the crises in youth crime, health, housing and cost of living," Premier Crisafulli said.
"We are delivering to restore safety where you live, health services when you need them, a better lifestyle through a stronger economy and a plan for Queensland's future.
"This Budget delivers cost of living relief with the $100 Back to School Boost and the $200 Play On! Sports Vouchers Program, a fully-funded Hospital Rescue Plan, a new nation-leading home ownership program to reduce the deposit gap, as well more police and early intervention to make Queensland safer."
Member for Townsville Adam Baillie said this Budget delivered for Townsville.
"We are delivering frontline police with the support and resources they need to do their jobs, while also upgrading the police watchhouse in Townsville," Mr Baillie said.
"We are also investing in an additional District Court Judge and ancillary staff to support the implementation of our landmark Making Queensland Safer laws.
"The Budget is also increasing education support to reduce youth crime with the establishment of a Crime Prevention School in Townsville, to get at risk kids back on the right path."
Member for Mundingburra Janelle Poole said the Budget delivered for Mundingburra.
"The Crisafulli Government is committed to improving healthcare services for our growing region and we will deliver new and expanded health services at the Townsville University Hospital, ensuring access to world-class healthcare for the community," Ms Poole said.
"The investment for a Regional Reset program in North Queensland is critical as it will provide specialist early intervention to turn our at-risk youth away from a life of crime."
Member of Thuringowa Natalie Marr said the Budget delivered for Thuringowa.
"I'm proud to announce my election promises will be delivered under the 2025-2026 budget, including investment in our children, with upgrades at Kirwan State School and Thuringowa State High School, Greenwood Sporting Precinct and Jabiru Park will also receive much needed upgrades," Ms Marr said.
"The Budget also includes significant investment to establish a brand new $45 million police facility at Kirwan, continuing to invest in our boots on the ground Police.
"Kirwan Health Campus will also be expanded to deliver midwifery community clinics, dental services, and refurbishments to existing facilities."
Member for Burdekin Dale Last said the Budget delivered for Burdekin.
"The Budget is investing in the needs of our community, including the land for a new fire station at Ayr and CT Scanner at Ayr Hospital, as well as an upgrade for the Home Hill swimming pool," Mr Last said.
"We also have to look at the long-term needs of the Burdekin region, which is why we are investing $5.5 million to assess infrastructure for future water resource needs."
