Frontline police in training to boost NT Police numbers

NT Government

There have never been more frontline police in the NT and the Territory Labor Government is continuing to invest in boosting our police force.

Since 2016 there are over 230 additional police and an additional $125 million boost to the NT Police.

There are 85 recruits currently in training in preparation to begin their careers protecting Territorians. They are all expected to be on the beat by September this year.

These recruits are in addition to the 32 police Constables, 41 Auxiliaries and 13 Aboriginal Liaison Officers who have graduated since January. Three former police officers have also returned to the Northern Territory and have been reappointed as Constables.

Earlier this month, NT Police announced an enticing relocation incentive for any successful applicants who become sworn NT Police recruits.

The incentive is on offer for new recruits or experienced officers from other jurisdictions who move to the NT.

With the incentive being raised from $8,000 to a maximum of $20,000, there has never been a better time to join the NT Police.
