Funding boost helps Tasmanian events reach new audiences

Nic Street, Minister for Stadia and Events

Unique Tasmanian events and festivals will have more opportunities to boost visitation thanks to another round of the Rockliff Liberal Government's Event Marketing Tasmania grants program.

Minister for Stadia and Events, Nic Street, said 35 events would share in $265,000 to support their marketing activities, bringing flow-on economic benefits for nearby communities.

"We're supporting events from every part of our State to reach larger audiences and entice more visitors to our shores," Minister Street said.

"Events are an important driver of our visitor economy and contribute hugely to our State's identity, so we're helping event organisers to spread their stories far and wide.

"Through this program we are helping to reduce the financial impost of telling people about an event, so organisers can invest more of their budget into creating great events."

The Event Marketing Tasmania grants program provides funds of up to $10,000 to help event organisers attract new audiences.

Past recipients have used the funding to create and share new digital content, produce marketing collateral, boost advertising, engage video or photographic services and hire marketing specialists.

This year's grant recipients include newly launched Hobart summer music festival Haydays, southern Tasmania's Spring in the Vines wine festival, the Thai Food and Culture Festival in Launceston, the King Island Imperial 20 distance running event, and the Waratah Woodchopping Carnival.

Nicole Fisher, Festival Director of Gin-uary said securing the grant would help propel the popular Hobart gin festival into the national spotlight.

"With this grant we amplify our reach, ignite excitement, and create a buzz that reverberates far beyond the venue," Ms Fisher said.

"It's not just about promotion; it's about crafting an unforgettable experience that resonates with our audience and creates a flow-on effect for the community.

"Gin-uary beckons 'ginthusiasts' nationwide to Hobart, promising an unparalleled Tasmanian gin experience. These visitors will then spend money on accommodation, dining and various tourist attractions, boosting revenue for so many businesses in the area, as well as the more than 50 local businesses directly involved in Gin-uary."
