Leeton Shire Council is pleased to announce two major sporting infrastructure projects have secured significant funding support through the NSW Government's Clubgrants Category 3 Infrastructure Grants program, administered by the Office of Responsible Gambling.

The projects will deliver important upgrades to the Leeton Ovals precinct and the Leeton Indoor Stadium, improving facilities for local sporting clubs, participants and the broader community.

Leeton United Football Club (LUFC) has successfully secured $259,000 in grant funding for the upgrade of floodlighting at Ovals 2 and 3 at the Leeton Ovals precinct. LUFC will contribute $10,000 towards the project, with Leeton Shire Council to auspice the funding and deliver the works on behalf of the club.

The lighting upgrade will benefit a wide range of users including Touch Football, Cricket, Rugby League, Soccer and Rugby Union by enabling night training and matches, improving safety and playing conditions, and supporting the attraction of regional sporting events.

Leeton Shire Council has also secured $220,000 in funding for upgrade works to the amenities and kiosk at the Leeton Indoor Stadium, with Council contributing matching funds to deliver the project.

The Stadium upgrades will include refurbishment of male, female and accessible changerooms, along with remodelling of the kiosk area. The improvements will modernise outdated facilities, enhance accessibility and inclusivity, and support increased community participation in sport and recreation.

Mayor of Leeton Shire, Cr George Weston, welcomed the funding announcements and said the projects represented a significant investment in the future of local sport, stating, "These projects will provide safer, more accessible and more functional sporting facilities for our community and the many sporting groups who use them.

"The upgraded lighting at the ovals will allow greater use of the facilities into the evening and help attract larger sporting events to Leeton, while the Stadium improvements will enhance the experience for players, volunteers and spectators alike."

"Council is proud to work alongside local sporting organisations and funding partners to deliver infrastructure that encourages participation, inclusivity and community connection."

Both projects have been proudly co-funded by the NSW Government.
