The future of social enterprise, Hamlet Cafe, is being secured with a $1 million funding injection as part of the upcoming Tasmanian Government's 2025-26 Budget.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff joined Hamlet CEO Emily Briffa to announce the funding.
"Hamlet does an extraordinary job training people facing barriers to employment with a focus on those living with disability," Premier Rockliff said.
"From customer service to a career in cooking, trainees learn job-ready skills at Hamlet's commercial kitchen and café.
"Our Government strongly supports this work, previously investing in Hamlet's commercial kitchen and supporting operations.
"We will invest $1 million into Hamlet as part of the 2025-26 State Budget, securing the future of the social enterprise for the next four years.
"Because of our Government's strong economic management, we can invest in the things that matter most to Tasmanians, including organisations like Hamlet.
"There is a strong demand for hospitality staff across the State, and the training provided by Hamlet can play an important role in meeting ongoing demand.
"Not only are Hamlet trainees job-ready, they also have a 75 per cent employment placement rate for participants who complete training programs, which provides significant benefits to those individuals, the hospitality industry and our economy.
"As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we are investing in job-ready training, supporting Tasmanians to reach their full potential and helping keep our economy strong."
