Rockhampton Regional Council is currently seeking applications from local charities to receive financial donations from concert goers for the 2025 Carols by Candlelight.
Every year Council selects one local charity to receive ticket proceeds and donations, to go towards a local project or service.
Rockhampton Regional Council Communities Culture and Heritage spokesperson Deputy Mayor Drew Wickerson said that Carols by Candlelight has raised a significant amount over the years, which has helped many local organisations help those in need in Rockhampton Region.
"Money donated through Carols by Candlelight has given a significant boost to many local charities in past years, and helped them continue their good work," he said.
"To make the decision about which organisation Carols by Candlelight will support, we ask potential recipients fill out an application form to provide some details about their organisation, who their organisation benefits and what they would spend the money on if their application was successful," Cr Wickerson said.
To be considered, the recipient organisation must meet the following criteria:
- Be based in Rockhampton or service the people of the Rockhampton Regional Council area
- Be a registered, incorporated, not-for-profit organisation
- The money donated to the selected organisation must be used for a specific activity or purchase, which must be detailed in the application.
Other conditions may apply. See the application form for eligibility criteria and information.
"Even when times are tough, concert goers still dig deep and give what they can, knowing that their donations will help those in need in this region. So I urge eligible local charitable organisations to consider applying to be our fundraising recipient for 2025," Cr Wickerson said.
