Further charges laid over ATM ram raids, NSW

Further charges have been laid against two men over alleged aggravated break-ins targeting ATMs across Sydney and the Hunter Region last year, NSW Police say.

Detectives from State Crime Command’s Property Crime Squad established Strike Force Conen to investigate a series of ATM ram raids aggravated break-ins at Menai, Bella Vista, Northbridge, Camperdown, and Mt Hutton.

As a result of their inquiries, a 32-year-old man was arrested on Sunday 18 December 2016, and a 34-year-old man was arrested on Friday 23 December 2016.

Following further investigations, Strike Force detectives have laid further charges on both men.

The 32-year-old man was charged with four counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence; six counts of intentionally damage property, seven counts of knowingly be carried in/on stolen conveyance, two counts of larceny, destroy or damage property intending criminal activity of a criminal group, and drive whilst disqualified.

He remains in custody to appear at Central Local Court on Tuesday 7 February 2017.

The 34-year-old man was charged with five counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence; five counts of intentionally damage property, eight counts of knowingly be carried in/on stolen conveyance, two counts of larceny, and destroy or damage property intending criminal activity of a criminal group.

He remains in custody to appear at Central Local Court on Wednesday 8 February 2017.
