Further two charged over fraud against financial institution - Strike Force Kerribee

Financial Crimes Squad detectives have charged two further people as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged fraudulent offences committed against a financial institution more than two years ago.

In May last year, detectives from the State Crime Command's Financial Crimes Squad's established Strike Force Kerribee to investigate a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in defrauding a financial institution.

So far during the investigation, detectives have arrested two women – aged 26 and 29 – and a 28-year-old man. All three were charged and remain before the courts.

Following further investigations, detectives arrested a 26-year-old woman and 27-year-old man at Liverpool Police Station about 8.30am yesterday (Monday 21 December 2020).

The Casula woman was charged with deal with identity info to commit indictable offence, four counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime intent to conceal.

The Macquarie Fields man was charged with two counts of deal with identity info to commit indictable offence and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime.

Police will allege in court the pair were involved in unauthorised bank transactions valued at nearly $364,000 from various accounts in 2018.

The pair were both refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Tuesday 22 December 2020).

Investigations under Strike Force Kerribee are continuing.
