The Morrison Government has launched Skills Match - a new online, interactive tool that allows workers and job seekers to match their current skills and experiences to training and career pathways that lead to new jobs.
Available on the Job Outlook website, Skills Match analyses a worker's existing skills and work experience and provides a catalogue of alternative careers, including information about median weekly earnings and required qualifications.
Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, Michaelia Cash, said she was delighted to launch a tool that will help Australians ascertain the skills needed in the workforce today and into the future.
"We know the world of work is changing. The Morrison Government is unequivocally committed to ensuring all Australians are well prepared and fighting-fit to step into the jobs of the future," Minister Cash said.
"We are all about ensuring Australian businesses and industry have access to the skilled workforce they need to grow and succeed."
The Skills Match tool is for people of all ages and stages in their working life - workers looking for a promotion, those looking for new work after redundancy, and even tradies looking to broaden their skillsets.
In just a few clicks, users can identify the key skills they have developed throughout their career, ideas for careers they can transfer their skills to, and the new skills needed to step into an alternative career.
"This information will help jobseekers prepare for new jobs by helping them successfully quantify their skills to potential employers on a résumé as well as help support them through interviews," Minister Cash said.
"The Job Outlook website, that had around 1.8 million users over the last 12 months, is a one-stop-shop for workers to identify their skills and understand their experiences are valuable in more ways than they may realise.
"There is no better time than now to future-proof your career and establish a career path with purpose using Skills Match."
The Skills Match Tool is an Australian Government 2018-19 budget commitment as part of the 'More Choices for a Longer Life' initiative.
