Future Vision For Footscray Hospital Site

VIC Premier

Residents, business owners and broader community are encouraged to have their say on the future of one of the largest government-owned sites available for renewal.

Minister for Precincts Colin Brooks is seeking feedback from the community on how the existing Footscray Hospital site could be used when services move to the new state-of-the-art hospital in 2025.

The online survey is now open and local residents have until Wednesday 29 February 2024 to give feedback on how they think the site could be best used.

The survey will capture insights from people who have a connection to the area and inform what future services the community needs most.

Staff from the Department of Transport and Planning will also be available for a chat in-person about the existing Footscray Hospital site across three days at Footscray Library (November 21), Footscray Hospital café (November 16) and SloFo WeFo Farmers Market (February 10).

The new hospital is Victoria's biggest health infrastructure project to date - with the Allan Labor Government investing $1.5 billion to deliver world-class health for Melbourne's west, replacing the existing ghospital and freeing up 6.6 hectares along Gordon Street for future redevelopment.

The Labor Government is currently assessing the site to understand how to best deliver for current and emerging community needs.

The Department of Transport and Planning have been working with key stakeholders including Maribyrnong City Council, Victoria University, Western Health, Western Bulldogs, the West of Melbourne Economic Development Alliance, LEADWEST and the community.
