Gang Crime Squad appeal for witnesses after aggravated home invasion

Gang Crime Squad detectives are appealing for witnesses following the theft of two vehicles from a Brighton East house earlier this week.

Investigators were told a number of people entered the Regent Street property about 2.30am on Monday (23 January).

Police spotted the stolen white 2017 Porsche Cayenne driving erratically on the Monash Freeway at approximately 3.15pm on Tuesday afternoon (24 January).

Following the execution of a search warrant, Gang Crime Squad detectives arrested a 21-year-old Narre Warre man in Narre Warren on Wednesday morning.

He was charged with dangerous or negligent driving while pursued by police, theft of motor vehicle, drive in manner dangerous, drive at speed dangerous, reckless conduct endangering life, drive whilst disqualified and breach prescribed condition of parole.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 20 April.

The stolen Porsche has been recovered, but a white BMW X5 which was also stolen from the same address remains outstanding.

Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw or has dashcam footage of the Porsche driving erratically in the Pakenham, Dandenong, Cheltenham, Moorabbin or Brighton areas on Tuesday, 24 January between 1.00pm and 3.40pm.

The white 2017 Porsche Cayenne was bearing registration plates AOZ690.

The investigation remains ongoing.
