Gardiners Creek Trail Closure: Toorak Rd Underpass

In early June, a short 110-metre section of the Gardiners Creek Trail underpass at Toorak Road in Hawthorn East will be closed for maintenance works.

Works are expected to commence Tuesday 9 June, weather permitting, and be completed by Friday 12 June.

We're relocating a light pole that is currently next to the creek to the other side of the trail. This is a proactive approach to ensure the light pole is in a stable position and not located on the creek bank where there is potential for minor erosion over time.

To keep everyone safe while works are underway, we'll be closing the trail at both sides through the underpass.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time when travelling on these dates.

Detour in place

People riding bikes must dismount before using this pedestrian detour.

Heading southbound

Leave the Gardiners Creek trail and detour using the path next to the Patterson Reserve car park to reach Auburn Road. Use the pedestrian lights to safely cross Auburn Road and Toorak Road and reconnect with the street-level Gardiners Creek Trail on the south side of Toorak Road.

Heading northbound/citybound

Detour to the street-level trail before the underpass at Toorak Road. Use the pedestrian lights to safely cross Toorak Road and Auburn Road. Connect through to the path at the Patterson Reserve car park and rejoin the trail.
