Finalists for the NSW Local Government Excellence Awards have been released, and Georges River Council has qualified in six categories. The Awards celebrate the achievements and promote the innovations and drive for improvement amongst NSW local government.
"This is a homage to the great work and tenacity our Council staff have demonstrated over the past year, especially with the impact of the pandemic. To be finalists in six categories is a huge achievement," said Georges River Council Mayor Kevin Greene.
Georges River Council has broken a corporate record for the number of finalist categories achieved.
Customer Experience is one category where Georges River has been recognised for our Customer Experience Excellence Program. Our environmental leadership is also a finalist, with Gannon's Park Water Quality Improvement and Stormwater Harvesting Scheme being nominated.
Council is also a finalist in the area of Innovative Leadership for the New Rates 2021 project. Another category is the People, Workplace, Wellbeing with BENE-FIT 360, which is an initiative that actively supports employees from a holistic outlook for total wellbeing. This involves mental fitness, wellness and belonging, and a work-life balance to drive a healthier, happier and more productive and engaged workplace.
Council has also been recognised for our THRIVE program in the Special Project Initiative category. The program was developed to deal with the personal impact of COVID-19.
The final category is the Supporting Local Enterprise for our COVID-19 Economic and Social Recovery Plan.
The winners will be announced Thursday, 3 June, at the Local Government Awards Dinner.
