Georges River Council is proud to announce the winners of the "What does allyship look like to you?" Pride Bookmark Competition, held as part of Pride Month 2025 celebrations, with bookmarks available in the lead up to Mardi Gras 2026.
The competition invited community members of all ages to design a bookmark that explored the theme of allyship. Entrants were encouraged to reflect on how they can support and stand alongside LGBTQIA+ friends, family, and neighbours.
Congratulations to our winning artists: Cherise Shi, Junhaoran Li, Milo Rose, Rebecca Li, and Reva Godara.
Each winner received a $200 gift voucher, and their artwork has been professionally printed as official Georges River Libraries bookmarks.
The five winning bookmark designs are now available at Georges River Libraries at Hurstville, South Hurstville, Kogarah, Penshurst, and Oatley for the community to collect and enjoy.
The Pride Bookmark Competition is one of several initiatives presented by Council during Pride Month, which is celebrated throughout June. Last year's theme, 'Love, Respect, Power', focused on diversity, unity, and equality within the LGBTQIA+ community and among allies.
Georges River Mayor Elise Borg said, "It's been wonderful to see our community engage with Pride Month in such thoughtful and creative ways.
"Council's Pride Month program reflects our commitment to building a safe, inclusive and equitable community, guided by the principles of the Social Justice Charter.
"We are excited to launch the Pride Bookmark Competition during Mardi Gras, bringing our local celebration together with the broader LGBTQIA+ community.
"These bookmarks are a powerful reminder that allyship begins with awareness, understanding and empathy.
"Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who shared their vision of what allyship means.
"I encourage everyone to visit their nearest Georges River Library branch to pick up a free bookmark."
