Georges River Hosts Free Child Car Seat Check Day

Georges River Council

Over 32 child restraints were checked at Council's free child car restraint checking event on Tuesday 31 March. With 24 families in attendance, Council continues to provide free support for residents of Georges River to ensure our community remains safe and secure on the road.

Supported by Transport for NSW, authorised fitters ensured child restraints, harnesses and booster seats meet safety standards. Child car seats were assessed for both their level of protection in a crash and their ease of use.

Mayor Elise Borg said, "Ensuring children are safely secured in the car is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent serious injury".

"These free events give families peace of mind by making sure their child restraints are correctly fitted and meet safety standards."

The next Child Restraint Checking & Installation Day is scheduled for Tuesday 26 May 2026.

A small cost may apply if special parts are needed to fit the seat, which will be available for purchase on the day. Any payments will go directly to the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) Authorised Restraint Fitter.

Registrations are only open to residents of the Georges River Local Government Area (LGA). Proof of address is needed at the venue before any checks or installations begin. Each booking allows for up to three seats to be fitted or checked in a vehicle.
