CFA advises against tin-rattling and door knocking

CFA is advising against any fundraising activity which involves direct contact with members of the public, including door knocking and tin-rattling.

What can you do instead?

The Good Friday Appeal is developing a new technology solution to deliver a 'virtual tin shake'. This campaign will replace all collection tin fundraising that would usually take place face-to-face on Good Friday 2020.

Using the Everyday Hero platform, custom-made pages will be created for each brigade where they can virtually collect donations.

Brigade pages will be named after each brigade. For example:

  • CORIO FIRE BRIGADE VIRTUAL TIN SHAKE
  • WERRIBEE CFA VIRTUAL TIN SHAKE

This page will then be able to be shared to brigade communities via a link on Facebook and similar platforms. Donations will appear on the page, with an automatic tally allowing donors to leave messages of support.

All individual brigade pages will be attached to the main CFA Tin Shake page that shows the tally of all brigades. People can choose their local brigade from this list if they haven't already seen their town's specific page link.
