GIDDY UP BRISBANE: The Prince Consort & Friends to celebrate the 2020 Melbourne Cup in style

Fresh out of the gates and fabulously frocked right up, the newly renamed and redressed The Prince Consort is ready to host Melbourne Cup in style.

At home in Wickham Street in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane's newest collective of bars was more recently known as The Elephant Arms Hotel. Now under new ownership, the majestic grand knight of Fortitude Valley has been refurbished, restyled and recreated into a playground of gorgeous spaces where punters can choose their own adventure and on Tuesday November 3, adventures there will be! The Prince Consort will officially open its newly minted doors on the last weekend in October, ready for Halloween and Melbourne Cup and the official beginning of the festive season in Brisbane.

The Melbourne Cup Garden Party in the Garden Bar

The Garden Bar at The Prince Consort is an open-air oasis, brimming with botanicals, washed in a palette of pastels and humming with Queensland vibes and its very own mega screen, the perfect place for a Melbourne Cup Garden Party! Come fancy, flamboyant, fabulous or fresh because every group (no matter the size, from 2 to 20) will have their own setting, and every guest, their own seat! Settings will be a mix of restaurant tables, taller tables and stools and restaurant booths. From 11.30am through until 3.30pm guests will enjoy:

· Cocktails and spritzers, Chandon sparkling, premium wines, premium tap beers, cider, soft drink and juices.

· Hand crafted canapes by Head Chef Jack Powlay with a selection of hot, cold and dessert options, think freshly shucked oyster with dill pickle mignonette or breakfast radish, whipped macadamia and bay leaf, or kohlrabi taco, torched mackerel, fingerlime and shiso, then there's wagyu beef skewers with blood plum, horseradish and rosemary or spiced lamb sausage rolls with whipped feta and preserved lemon and candied pork belly salad and fried chicken sliders with shaved white cabbage, mustard and star anise, just to name a few!
