Girl critical after house fire in Doonside

An investigation is underway into what caused a fire in a home in Doonside this morning, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to the single-level brick veneer house in Hill End Road, Doonside, about 6.30am tomorrow, and found the building well-alight.

A nine-year-old girl sustained serious burns and was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead for treatment. She is reported to be in a critical condition.

Fire fighters from Fire & Rescue NSW attended and contained the blaze to the one building; however, it was extensively damaged.

The girl’s four siblings and her parents escaped without injury.

Police are waiting to speak with the family.
