Girl injured in all-terrain vehicle crash, NSW

A young girl has been seriously injured on a property in the Illawarra this morning.

About 10:20am (Sunday 17 February2019), emergency services were called to Calderwood Road, Marshall Mount after reports a young girl had been injured in a crash involving a four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

Police have been told the driver lost control and crashed into a fence with three passengers on board.

The driver, a 31-year-old woman from Marshall Mount, has been taken to Wollongong Hospital for treatment for minor injuries and mandatory testing.

A 10-year-old girl from Birrong has been airlifted to the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick with serious chest and head injuries.

An 11-year-old girl was taken to Wollongong Hospital with a shoulder injury and a second 11-year-old girl was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit will continue inquiries into the events leading up to the crash.
