Girl killed in motorcycle accident in Delungra

A young girl has been killed in a motorcycle accident on a property in the state’s north, NSW Police say.

About 9.30am today (Tuesday 24 July 2018), emergency services were called to the property at Delungra, west of Glen Innes, after reports of an accident.

Police have been told a 29-year-old man was riding a Honda motorcycle in a paddock, with his 19-month-old daughter seated in front of him, when he lost control of the motorcycle causing the girl to be ejected.

She suffered critical head injuries and despite efforts of emergency services, she died at the scene.

The rider was taken to Inverell Hospital where a mandatory blood and urine sample was obtained.

Police from New England Police District, as well as Northern Tablelands Crash Investigation Unit and the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct inquiries.

The investigation continues and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
