Goblin Forest Now More Accessible

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Government has delivered upgrades to another of our 60 Great Short Walks, ensuring it is accessible for Tasmanians living with a disability.

Minister for Parks, Nick Duigan, said visitors to Goblin Forest will now benefit from upgrades to the boardwalk and bridge.

"The Goblin Forest Walk is a 400 metre circuit and one of Tasmania's 60 Great Short Walks. It's fantastic it has now reopened for visitors to enjoy," Minister Duigan said.

"Improvements to accessibility have been completed, with the walk including passing bays and the installation of a new decking system to improve wheelchair accessibility.

"These upgrades are important for accessibility of the board walk, and recognise the community work undertaken by Clarence Strochnetter.

"Clarence was an active member of the Disabled People International Association and served as Secretary and Chairman. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1979.

"The walk was dedicated to Clarence in 1994 for his important work raising awareness for people with disabilities. The interpretation remaining on the track is in his memory.

"Our Government is delivering for Tasmania by improving access to parks and reserves."
