GOLD COAST PILOTS TO REACH NEW HEIGHTS

Gold Coast pilots can lift their safety skills to new heights at free aviation seminars next week.

Seminars at Currumbin and Southport will focus on defensive flying to make local skies even safer.

All local pilots are invited to take part in the safety seminars being run by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

There will be a focus on threat and error management skills for pilots, as well as communication and situational awareness.

Threats to safe flying can be adverse weather, mechanical problems or other air traffic. Errors by pilots can be fuel mis-management, incorrect aircraft settings or navigation mistakes.

CASA’s Peter Gibson said local pilots will be given practical examples of how to fly defensively to best manage threats and errors.

"Gold Coast pilots can be leaders in aviation safety by attending next week’s seminar," Mr Gibson said.

"Local pilots have good technical flying skills and can now further enhance their safety performance.

"Our goal is safe skies for all."

A seminar is being held on Monday 10 September 2018 at 6pm at the Southport Flying Club.

On Tuesday 11 September 2018 at 6pm a seminar is being held at the Currumbin RSL Club.

People attending are asked to book online at the CASA website.
