Gold Coast Police continue their campaign for motorcyclist safety with Operation North Upright

Officers from the Gold Coast police district, in conjunction with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Queensland Ambulance Service, Department of Transport and Main Roads and the City of Gold Coast are continuing their campaign for motorcycle safety this Sunday in the hinterland area under the banner of Operation North Upright with a fourth instalment, Queensland Police say.

Operation North Upright is a road safety campaign designed to raise awareness of the potential risks for motorcyclists using the hinterland roads within the South Eastern Region.

On Sunday August 28 motorcyclists enjoying the hinterland area are invited to stop for a chat about road safety with experienced motorcycle officers from the Road Policing Command and other emergency services.

Gold Coast District Superintendent Craig Hanlon said that community engagement is an important part of the operation.

"We endeavor to inform riders about safe riding techniques through displays, demonstrations, and discussions," Superintendent Hanlon said.
