After playing Saturday Lotto for more than 20 years, a Grafton man is marvelling at his $2.2 million division one win, which he plans to share with his family.
The Northern Rivers resident held one of the nine division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4709, drawn Saturday 5 September 2026, and can look forward to $2,222,222.23.
When we confirmed the winning news, the delighted man was almost lost for words.
"Thank you!" he exclaimed.
"I'd heard there was a big win sold at the local newsagency. They had a sign up saying, 'We've sold a division one winner'.
"I buy one there every week and have done so on and off for 20-odd years.
"It's been a while since I've had a decent prize, but I've never won anything like this before.
"It's pretty big!"
While the down-to-earth Grafton local isn't planning on making any major lifestyle changes, he already knows what he wants to do with his newfound fortune.
"I've got adult kids and this will go a long way - really set them up for the future," he said.
"It'll be nice to help the family."
His winning entry was purchased at Infinity News & Gifts, Shop 11, Grafton Mall, Cnr King and Pound Street, Grafton.
Infinity News & Gifts co-owner Robert Blinman said he was ecstatic to sell a division one winning ticket to a regular.
"We're so pumped! It's an awesome feeling. You feel warm and fuzzy knowing you're a part of someone's life-changing win," he said.
"We took over about eighteen months ago and we've already sold two division one winning entries and three division two winning entries.
"It creates quite a buzz with customers and in the community. Everyone talks about it.
"The winner was in yesterday. He's a regular and a local and was very calm. When we said he's won a major prize, he went 'Oh, that's good,'.
"Congratulations to him and thank you to all our customers! We hope our winning streak continues."
