Grant Boosts Leeton's First NAIDOC Debutante Ball

Leeton Shire Council

Leeton Shire Council has awarded a $2,000 Quick Response Grant to the Leeton and District Aboriginal Land Council (LDALC) to assist with venue hire costs associated with the Inaugural Leeton NAIDOC Debutante Ball 2025.

The debutante ball, to be held on Saturday 25 October 2025 at the Leeton Roxy Community Theatre, will be the first of its kind for the local Aboriginal community. The event aligns with the national NAIDOC theme for 2025, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy," and aims to bring together the whole community in the spirit of unity and cultural celebration.

Leeton Shire Council Mayor Cr George Weston said the event will be a great occasion for the whole community to come together.

"Council is proud to support the Leeton NAIDOC debutante ball which celebrates the strength, resilience and vision of our local Aboriginal community. It will be a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together, honour culture and create lasting memories," said Mayor Weston.

Council's Community Grants Program includes a 'Quick Response' Grant Category which aims to support activities that arise unexpectedly, with limited notice, outside the window of the twice-yearly Community Grants Scheme.

Applications within this category are capped at a maximum of $2,000.
