VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government is awarding more grants for travel, uniforms, equipment, and participation in sport carnivals for First Nations athletes.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today announced 22 successful applications have secured grants from the latest round of the Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program.

Sharing in more than $100,000, recipients include the Rumbalara Football Netball Club's women and girls from under 11's through to Seniors who will benefit from new uniforms and equipment thanks to an almost $1,000 boost.

The Melbourne Warriors Junior Sports Club will be using $4,000 towards uniforms for their under 10's and 12's junior basketball boys' and girls' teams to represent the club with pride in the Coburg Basketball Association, representative teams, as well as carnivals and tournaments throughout 2025.

The program delivers grants of up to $1,000 for team uniforms and equipment, and up to $2,500 for travel costs so clubs can participate in both Victorian and national tournaments.

Individuals can also access up to $250 to purchase sporting uniforms and equipment, and up to $750 for their own travel costs.

This grant program is part of the Labor Government's strong support for the Victorian Aboriginal community, alongside the new Victorian Aboriginal Sporting Partnership which is creating more opportunities in the community sport sector for Aboriginal athletes.

The Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program has provided more than 480 grants to community sport clubs and First Nations individuals, building stronger connections between the community sport sector and Victoria's Indigenous communities.
