Grievous bodily harm at Gympie 23 May

Police have charged a 34-year-old Southside man following investigations into an alleged hit and run of a pedestrian in Southside, Gympie last night, May 22.

It will be alleged at approximately 10pm, an altercation occurred between three people before one of them got into a nearby vehicle and drove at the other two.

One of the pedestrians, a 32-year-old woman, was transported to Gympie Hospital with serious injuries and later airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

The second pedestrian, a 41-year-old man, sustained a minor leg injury.

The vehicle left the scene.

Shortly after midnight, the 34-year-old driver of the vehicle self-presented at Gympie Watchhouse and was arrested without incident.

He has since been charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and is expected to appear at Gympie Magistrates Court today, May 23.
