Grievous bodily harm at Kelso

A woman has been arrested today in Townsville in relation to a 5-month-old girl who sustained serious injuries earlier this year.

Police attended an address in Kelso on March 29 following reports an infant had been located unresponsive.

The girl was transported to Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition. She is currently in a serious but stable condition.

Ongoing investigations by detectives from the Townsville Child Protection Investigation Unit led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Kelso woman this afternoon.

She is expected to be charged with grievous bodily harm later today. The woman and child are known to each other.

Investigations are ongoing.
