Detectives have charged a man after investigations into an alleged assault in Reedy Creek this afternoon, Queensland Police say.
At around 4pm police were called to an address on Bridgman Drive following reports of an assault.
A 49-year-old woman was located at the scene and transported to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of a wound to her neck.
A man, who is known to the woman, was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
A 77-year-old man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.
He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on February 13.
