Grievous Bodily Harm Charges At Toowoomba

Police have charged a man following an incident at a Toowoomba shopping centre this afternoon, 8 May.

Around 1.16pm, police were called to a Hill Street address following reports of a man armed with a knife causing a disturbance.

The man was restrained by members of the public and arrested by police a short time later.

Three members of the public were assessed by QAS with minor injuries including a man who was transported to Toowoomba Base Hospital with a laceration to his hand.

There is no ongoing threat to the community.

Police have charged an 18-year-old Miles man with one count each of intended to cause grievous bodily harm, going armed so as to cause fear, and stealing.

He was denied police bail and is expected to appear at Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow, 9 May.
