Grievous bodily harm in East Toowoomba, QLD

Police have charged a man after woman sustained a serious knife wound in East Toowoomba this morning, Queensland Police say.

Around 3am, a man forced entry to a unit on Scott Street and allegedly stabbed a 37-year-old woman once in the back before fleeing on foot.

Police located the man a short distance away and was taken into custody.

The woman was transported to Toowoomba Base Hospital for treatment where remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 34-year-old Harlaxton man has been charged with one count each of enter dwelling with intent by break, wilful damage (domestic violence) and grievous bodily harm (domestic violence).

The man and woman were known to each other.
