Griffith Parking Alert for Long Weekend

Griffith City Council is reminding motorists to park safely and legally during the busy June Long Weekend, with increased traffic expected across residential areas, parks, sporting grounds and local attractions.

Council is asking drivers to be mindful of where they leave their vehicles, particularly in residential streets, to help keep roads, footpaths and driveways clear and safe for everyone.

Illegal parking can create hazards for pedestrians, cyclists, emergency services and other motorists, while also restricting access for residents and visitors.

Motorists are reminded that vehicles must not be parked:

  • Across or in front of driveways
  • On footpaths
  • On nature strips

Vehicles should be parked legally following all signs and road rules.

Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran is urging residents and visitors to take extra care when parking during the long weekend, especially near busy community areas and events.

"Events such as the Sikh Games at Collina bring large crowds and increased traffic to local streets and parking areas," he said.

"We ask everyone attending the Games and other long weekend events to park responsibly, follow signage and avoid blocking driveways, footpaths and nature strips so the area remains safe and accessible."

Council compliance officers will monitor parking across the city during the long weekend period.
