Griffith was buzzing over the weekend as around 12,000 people came together for triple j's One Night Stand, bringing an unforgettable night of live music and energy to the city.
While the last notes have now faded, the impact of the all-ages, drug and alcohol-free festival will continue well beyond Saturday night.
Ninajirachi shut down the stage with a dazzling world-class performance, which had the entire crowd dancing from the very first drop. Fresh off their first #1 Album, DMA'S reminded everyone why they're one of the country's most beloved acts, bringing out the Griffith Combined Schools Choir for a goosebump-inducing rendition of their track 'Silver'.
Genesis Owusu unleashed a genre defying performance that took him from the stage to the pit and left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to witness it. Beddy Rays delivered huge hooks and sun-soaked anthems, belting out their Like A Version cover of Cold Chisel's Khe Sanh, while beach balls flew across the crowd. MAY-A had the crowd singing every lyric of 'Swing Of Things' right back at her and local Unearthed Competition Winner Yung Brother opened the stage with a standout performance that set the tone for an unforgettable day.
Head of triple j and Double J Lachlan Macara said, "it felt like the whole of the Riverina showed up for us all weekend, reminding us why triple j will always show up for regional Australia. We couldn't have done it without the support from our incredible audience, artists, production crew, partners, triple j team and entire community of Griffith. Thank you!"
Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran said the event was a great example of what could be achieved when the community is ready to embrace major events and make the most of the opportunities they bring.
"Hosting an event of this scale is a fantastic achievement for Griffith and a credit to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make it happen," Mayor Curran said.
"The benefits extend well beyond the event itself. Our sporting clubs, accommodation providers, restaurants, cafés and local businesses all shared in the economic uplift, while our young people now have the opportunity to turn some of that momentum into projects that will benefit the community.
"I cannot speak highly enough of the triple j team along with our Visit Griffith team who produced undoubtedly the best concert experience Griffith has ever seen."
The event also delivers a lasting investment in Griffith's young people, with funds from ticket sales donated back for youth-led projects.
"One Night Stand was about much more than one night of music," Mayor Curran said.
"It was about showcasing Griffith, supporting local businesses, creating opportunities for our young people and demonstrating that we are ready to host major events.
"The memories created on Saturday will last, but so will the ideas, opportunities and projects that come from it. That is the real legacy of One Night Stand for Griffith."
One Night Stand's impact rippled across Griffith, putting our city on a national stage, while giving Australian artists the chance to connect with audiences far beyond the showground.
