GRNSW Boosts Prizemoney by $2 Million

GRNSW

NSW greyhound industry participants will see an increase of $2 million in prizemoney Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has announced today.

The first stage of the increase will occur from January 1, 2026, with an additional $350,000 injected into country class racing across NSW, with all classes of racing receiving further increases totalling $2 million during 2026.

With the inclusion of around $7 million in travel subsidies, returns to participants will increase to more than $54 million.

"We understand that unfortunately, due to the financial situation the organisation went through in the previous two years, there has not been a prizemoney increase in the past 12 months," GRNSW Chief Executive Officer Steve Griffin said.

"In 2024-25 GRNSW reduced returns to participants in an attempt to improve the organisation's budget position given the 2023-24 trading deficit, and we have worked extremely hard internally to make cuts, and be more resourceful with budgeting, to get the organisation back to financially stability so that we are in a position to increase returns to participants.
