Correction to central government expenditure

We've corrected the 'social assistance benefits in kind' component of central government final consumption expenditure and incorporated additional annual data. This has resulted in updates to data mainly from the June 2023 quarter onwards and impacts the expenditure measure of GDP.

Further updates to 'social assistance benefits in kind' are possible in Gross domestic product: September 2025 quarter on 18 December 2025 due to incorporating updated annual data. Any future updates are likely to be small.

Incorporation of updates to international trade

Updates published as part of International trade: June 2025 quarter have been incorporated into GDP. They are reflected in various components of GDP including exports, imports, household consumption expenditure, and gross fixed capital formation.

Updates to low goods imports are reflected in imports and household consumption expenditure and will flow through to household saving data to be published on 9 October 2025 in National accounts (income, saving, assets, and liabilities): June 2025 quarter.

GDP release for September 2025 quarter

Gross domestic product: September 2025 quarter on 18 December 2025 will include the impact of incorporating detailed data from the balanced annual national accounts and other method and data updates into GDP. These are standard updates which are included with the September quarter GDP publication each year.

We will publish a paper on 31 October 2025 that details improvements and updates in the annual national accounts, and another paper in December 2025 that describes the impacts on volume measures.
