Guide Agritourism and Hospitality's Future Here

Wagga Wagga City Council is calling for feedback from those involved in the local agritourism and hospitality industries via an industry interest survey.

In September 2025, it was announced that Council had received grant funding from the NSW Government's Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) to deliver a new Agritourism and Hospitality Capacity Building Program.

Council has partnered with Sparrowly Group to deliver the masterclasses and mentoring components of the program, with the first Agritourism and Hospitality Masterclass planned for Tuesday 12 May 2026.

As part of this program, an industry interest survey is being conducted to help shape and tailor this masterclass and ensure it reflects local priorities.

Destination & Events Coordinator Cassandra Farquharson said community input is important to help understand what support would be most valuable.

"We want to hear from local businesses, farmers, agritourism operators and entrepreneurs to help shape the future of agritourism and hospitality in Wagga Wagga and the surrounding region," Ms Farquharson said.

"By sharing your experiences, insights and business ambitions, you'll help design a program that meets the real needs of local businesses.

"We encourage everyone to take a moment to complete the short survey and contribute to a program that supports growth, innovation and success in the agritourism and hospitality sectors."

The two-year Agritourism and Hospitality Capacity Building Program aims to strengthen the capabilities of agritourism and hospitality businesses in Wagga Wagga and the surrounding region, as well as upskill locals seeking employment in these sectors.

Through targeted training, professional mentorship and industry exposure, the initiative will equip businesses with the skills, knowledge, and networks they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving tourism landscape.

The program aligns with priorities identified in the Wagga Wagga Destination Management Plan 2025 – 2034, which highlights the importance of expanding agritourism and culinary experiences while addressing workforce and skills shortages in the city and region.

The survey is now open, closing Tuesday 7 April 2026. Visit www.surveymonkey.com/r/V78YB7K
