Guild Launches First Member Census In More Than Decade

In March, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia will launch its first Member Census since 2012. It marks a major national effort to capture an accurate, contemporary picture of today's community pharmacy sector.

"Much has changed since the last Census — from the services community pharmacies provide and the expectations of Australian patients, to the pressures of running a small business and the growing demand for a skilled, sustainable workforce," said Professor Trent Twomey National President Pharmacy Guild of Australia.

The 2026 Census will help ensure the Guild's future planning, advocacy, support and member services reflect the real operating environment facing pharmacy owners today. It is designed first and foremost for members, giving every pharmacy owner the opportunity to share the realities of their business, team and future ambitions.

"Our members are busy people," Professor Twomey said. "The Census has been specifically designed to be simple, flexible and respectful of time. It's also completely confidential."

Members can choose either a quick online form or a phone-based census at a time that suits them. All information will be de‑identified and aggregated, with no individual pharmacy identifiable in any reporting. Data will not be shared with third parties outside the Guild.

Members can participate with complete confidence that their insights are safe, respected, and used solely to strengthen the support and value of Guild membership.

"Accurate, contemporary information from our members is critical to ensuring the Guild can advocate effectively, tailor support services, direct workforce initiatives and help build long‑term industry thrivability"

The Guild Member Census 2026 opens in March. Members can complete it online or book a phone interview.
