Guild Plan Elevates Pharmacy in Primary Healthcare

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has published its 10-year roadmap to create healthier communities through community pharmacy. Towards 2035 sets out an ambitious plan for how to Guild and its members will work to deliver for patients, pharmacists and pharmacies.

"Our members shaped this plan, sharing their insights, experience and ambition. Our vision is for communities to think pharmacy first – creating healthier communities and a healthier Australia" Pharmacy Guild of Australia, National President Professor Trent Twomey said.

"This plan builds on the strong foundations of our past and charts a course for a future where pharmacy is not only accessible, but central to the health and wellbeing of every person in Australia. It is a future underpinned by the patient-practitioner-practice relationship, and a belief that healthier communities are created when patients are placed at the centre of care, when pharmacists are empowered, and when practices thrive" he continued.

"Our profession is ready to deliver more. We know that community pharmacy is the most accessible primary healthcare destination – open earlier, later and longer than other providers. Now is the time to seize the opportunity to do more and expand the services offered in community pharmacies across Australia. And the Guild will be supporting members every step of the way."

Towards 2035 is the Pharmacy Guild of Australia's 10-year strategic plan. It sets out the goal, vision and mission of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and community pharmacy and sets out metrics across four focus areas of activity.
