Police have charged a 47-year-old man following a dangerous operation of a motor vehicle incident at Hampton yesterday 9 November.
It is alleged at around 3.10 pm the man arrived at a Boodua property in a stolen 2023 Mitsubishi Triton where he stole a camper trailer and threatened the property owner while trying to steal fuel.
Police will further allege as the offender was leaving the scene he drove towards two men striking one of them with the stolen vehicle.
A 77-year -old man received injuries to his shoulder and was taken to Toowoomba Base Hospital for treatment.
Around 4.45pm the vehicle was observed driving dangerously along Esk Hampton Road before turning into a property on Church House Road at Hampton.
It is alleged when police attempted to intercept the stolen vehicle the offender drove into a police car causing extensive damage, before leaving the scene.
A short time later police deployed a tyre deflation device before successfully intercepting the man's vehicle on Esk Hampton Road.
It will be further alleged the offender then threatened officers with an axe before being arrested and taken into custody.
The vehicle was stolen from a Bostock Road property at Condamine Plains on 23 October.
A 47-year-old Toowoomba man has been charged with 22 charges including four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, three counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing, two counts each of damaging an emergency service vehicle and serious assault police whilst armed and one count each of serious assault, attempted robbery, enter premises, wilful damage, receive stolen property, evade police, unlicensed driving and fail to provide blood.
He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on 12 January.
