Peter Hampton will remain in a key role at the Fair Work Commission for a further two years, after being appointed to an Acting Deputy President role.
Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations Amanda Rishworth today announced the appointment of Mr Hampton, commencing on 3 December 2025.
This follows the expiry of Mr Hampton's current term as a Deputy President on 2 December 2025, in accordance with paragraph 629(1)(a) of the Fair Work Act 2009.
Mr Hampton has been a Deputy President of the Fair Work Commission since 2022.
Before then, he was a commissioner of the Fair Work Commission (2010-2022).
The appointment will enable continuity of Mr Hampton's work as national practice leader for bargaining within the commission, in particular on the Early Childhood Education and Care Multi Employer Enterprise Agreement 2024-2026.
Minister Rishworth welcomed the two-year appointment and said Mr Hampton's experience would be of continued value to the commission.
"Mr Hampton has broad experience in workplace relations from his service on the Fair Work Commission and in other roles. I know he will continue to execute his duties with impartiality, dedication and diligence," she said.
"The Albanese Labor Government's reforms to lift wages, improve job security and close loopholes undermining pay and conditions have made the work of the Fair Work Commission more important than ever."
