Harley Davidson rider evaded police – Motorcycle seized for 6 months, TAS

HARLEY DAVIDSON RIDER WHO EVADED POLICE LOCATED AND ARRESTED – MOTORCYCLE SEIZED FOR 6 MONTHS, Tasmania Police say

At about 3pm on Thursday 14 September 2017 a Harley Davidson motorcycle evaded Police in John Street East Devonport following an attempted interception.

The rider, who was wearing a vest associated the Bandidos OMCG with the word ‘Prospect’ on the back in red and gold, subsequently rode in a dangerous manner on the Bass Highway between Devonport and Latrobe.

The rider and motorcycle were located in Latrobe shortly afterwards and the rider was arrested for the evade and driving offences. He will appear in the Devonport Magistrate Court at a later date. The motorcycle was also seized by Police for a period of 6 months.

"The Police Powers and Related Legislation (Evasion) Act 2017 commenced earlier this week on 13 September 2017. The legislation significantly increased the clamping and/or seizure period for evade offenders from 28 days to 6 months and was duly applied on this occasion," Officer in Charge of Western District Road & Public Order Services, Inspector Shadbolt said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the motorcycle and rider travelling on the Bass Highway between Devonport and Latrobe is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
