How can the Sunshine Coast community remain strong, inclusive and connected as we grow and change?
This is what Sunshine Coast Council wants to hear from our community.
The draft Sunshine Coast Community Strategy 2019-2041, endorsed at yesterday's Ordinary Meeting of Council for public consultation purposes, has been shaped by the voices and ideas of the community.
Late last year, people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds throughout the region shared their views on what a strong community means to them and what some of the region's key challenges and opportunities are now and into the future.
Mayor Mark Jamieson said Sunshine Coast residents could now review the draft strategy and provide further feedback and input between now and 19 July.
"Council wants to ensure our Sunshine Coast remains one of the best places to live, work and play," Mayor Jamieson said.
"In the first round of community engagement late last year, we had conversations with people from all walks of life and across many facets of our community.
"They told us that a strong community is one that is connected, engaged and inclusive. This has helped to shape a vision for the draft Community Strategy and identify priorities which council, the community and key stakeholders can work together to refine.
"So I encourage all residents to take the opportunity between now and July 19 to take a look at the draft Sunshine Coast Community Strategy 2019-2041 and let council know what is important to you.
"By working together we can ensure we continue to build an even stronger Sunshine Coast community and achieve our aspiration to be Australia's most sustainable region – healthy, smart and creative."
Community Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said council would be providing residents with a range of opportunities to provide feedback on the draft Community Strategy between now and 19 July.
"We want to ensure the Community Strategy aligns with the priorities of our community and caters for the needs and goals of people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds," Cr McKay said.
