Hay Man Charged With Child Abuse Material by Police

Murrumbidgee detectives have charged a man with allegedly possessing child abuse material in the state's south.

In October 2025, detectives attached to Murrumbidgee Police District commenced an investigation into online child abuse videos.

As part of ongoing inquiries, investigators stopped a vehicle at Hay, seizing a mobile phone. The occupant, a 57-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Wednesday 3 December 2025), and taken to Hay Police Station.

A search warrant was subsequently executed at a home in Hay, where electronic devices, firearms and ammunition was seized.

The man was later charged with possess child abuse material, disseminate child abuse material, six counts of possess unauthorised firearm, six counts of possess unregistered firearm-not pistol/prohibited firearm, and possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority,

He is due to appear in bail division – court 5 today (Thursday 4 December 2025).
