Hazard Reduction Burn - Eurobodalla Area |

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is undertaking a hazard reduction burn in the Wadbilliga National Park, north-west of Bega, starting today, 22 April.

The burn will help to reduce overall fuel levels to improve protection for the park, neighbours and nearby communities.

Brogo, Verona, Numbugga and Yankees Creek may experience smoke impacts from the burn, depending on weather conditions and wind direction.

Drivers are advised to take care and people with asthma or who are susceptible to respiratory problems are advised to keep clear of the area or stay indoors, close windows and doors and follow their health plan.

NPWS will be assisted by NSW Rural Fire Service crews, and this burn is just one of many being undertaken by NPWS across NSW, as conditions allow. For their safety, the public should not enter closed areas while the operations are underway.

Roads and trails will be reopened once the areas are assessed as safe. Visitors must check NPWS Alerts for up-to-date information on closures.

Planned burns also aim to improve biodiversity and provide safer access for firefighters.
