The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is planning a hazard reduction burn along Mann River in the Mann River Nature Reserve on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 July, weather permitting.
The hazard reduction burn will treat approximately 730 hectares of bushland near the Old Grafton Road, about 40km east of Glen Innes near the small remote community of Wytaliba in North East NSW.
This planned burn is essential to reduce the naturally accumulated fuel loads in the park, which will help better protect neighbours and the reserve if a wildfire occurs in the future.
The burn will commence near Tommy's Rock lookout before heading along Narrow Pass Fire Trail towards the Old Grafton Road. A helicopter will then take the burn down the ridgelines.
Motorists on the Old Grafton Road are advised to drive with caution and follow all safety signs or directions from fire crews.
Roads and trails will be reopened once the area is assessed as safe. Visitors must check NPWS Alerts for up-to-date information on closures.
