Heavy vehicle inspection sees 21 defect notices issued - Traffic Task Force

More than 20 defects have been issued after the Traffic Task Force inspected a number of trucks following a truck rollover outside the M5 in Sydney's south west.

About 7am today (Wednesday 24 July 2019), officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command's Traffic Task Force and Roads and Maritime Services inspectors conducted a compliance audit of 21 trucks and trailers belonging to a waste removal company in Maraylya at the Wetherill Park Heavy Vehicle Inspection Station.

During the inspections, 20 minor defects and one major defect were issued for brake issues, oil leaks, transmission leaks, steering leaks, damaged windscreens, and seatbelts and tyre issues. An infringement notice was also issued over a work diary breach.

The operation follows a truck rollover while turning into the entry of the M5 tunnel in Arncliffe just before 1am on Friday 19 July 2019. The driver, a 39-year-old man, underwent mandatory testing.

Investigations into the crash are continuing.
