Helicopter operation in Nightcap National Park today

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is undertaking a helicopter lift operation in Nightcap National Park today, Thursday 4 February.

Nightcap National Park boardwalk

The purpose of the helicopter operation is to remove walking track infrastructure damaged in the 2019-2020 bushfires and deposit new construction materials into strategic locations along Nightcap National Park's walking trail network to facilitate repairs.

The operation is expected to take approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Newton Drive and Historic Nightcap track (from Mount Nardi to Mount Matheson) will be closed until approximately 4.30pm Thursday 4 February 2021 for the safety of visitors and staff.

Traffic control is in place at the park boundary and signage has been erected on affected walking tracks. Both areas will be reopened after operations have been completed.

Visitors are advised to check the 'Local Alerts' on the NPWS website for up to date information: Nightcap National Park
