Teach Local at Community Learning Centre in Rowville is designed for people who enjoy connecting with others and want to create welcoming and inclusive learning experiences.
Whether you're interested in leading community groups, sharing a skill, supporting lifelong learning, or simply giving back to your community, Teach Local provides practical tools to help you get started.
The five-session course focuses on engaging adult learners, creating inclusive environments and building on the knowledge and experiences participants bring with them.

A key part of the program is learning how to respond to people's needs as they arise. This "just-in-time" approach helps facilitators support participants to solve problems, build skills and apply learning to everyday life. Learning alongside others also creates strong social connections. Participants can share experiences, learn from each other and develop skills in a collaborative and encouraging environment.

Teach Local runs on Tuesdays, with both daytime and evening sessions available, and costs $85 for the five sessions.
Past participants have gone on to facilitate a wide range of community activities, including children's sewing classes and adaptive horse-riding programs that support people with disability.

Neighbourhood Houses welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities and play a vital role in supporting Council's work to improve the health and wellbeing of the Knox community.
Knox City Council supports Community Learning Centre by providing a Council owned and maintained facility, as well as funding through the Community Partnerships Fund grant stream.
Council is invested in supporting the five Neighbourhood Houses in Knox as they deliver social, economic and health and wellbeing benefits to the Knox community. These outcomes support us to deliver on our Council and Health and Wellbeing Plan. They also increase the community's access to local services through their 'No Wrong Door Policy', assisting people to find the information/service/support they need.
