Help Our Search For Wollongong's Young Superstars

We need your help to unearth the amazing young people making Wollongong a better place – it's time for them to shine!

Nominations are now open for the Wollongong Youth Week Awards, a celebration of young people aged between 12 to 24 years across our city. Whether they are in volunteering, creative arts, sports, environmental work, we want to recognise their diverse contributions to our community and the difference they are making.

You can nominate your local young champion in one of the following seven award categories:

  • Young Person – Volunteer
  • Young Person – Community Ambassador
  • Young Person – Artist
  • Young Person – Performer
  • Young Person – Sportsperson
  • Young Person – Environmentalist
  • Young Person – Small Business

The award ceremony will be held during NSW Youth Week (16 to 26 April 2026), with this year's theme 'Dream. Dare. Do'.

"Young people are an important cornerstone of any community. Their talents, passions and perspective on life always brings a breath of fresh air and I'm grateful to see that right here in own our backyard," Lord Mayor of Wollongong Councillor Tania Brown said.

"We need to support our local voices and leaders of tomorrow, and the Wollongong Youth Week Awards is a great way to acknowledge their present efforts.

"They could be thriving in their chosen art or sport, advocating for our city, spending their free time helping people or inspiring others through their humble successes – the list goes on.

"I invite residents to take some time to nominate the wonderful young people in their life, we'd love to celebrate them on behalf of Wollongong."

To be eligible, nominees must be aged 12 to 24 years and live in the Wollongong Local Government Area. Nominations are open until Friday 30 March 2026.
